The November general election will not be the first time Section 201 of the Mississippi Constitution, which guarantees “free public schools” will be on the ballot.

Section 201, which the citizen-sponsored Initiative seeks to amend to enhance the state’s commitment to public education, has gone through several revisions since the current Mississippi Constitution was adopted in 1890.
